The 718th Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Flight (MPF) administers Military Personnel programs, No-fee Official Passports, and guidance for our customers across the installation. We are the subject-matter experts for numerous aspects of Military programs such as In-Processing, ID Cards, DEERS, Retentions, Assignments, System Accesses, Unfavorable Information Files (UIFs), Promotions, Evaluations, and Decorations.

Reporting and In-Processing Procedures

Inbound Airmen must contact their sponsor for temporary lodging reservations and a Kadena AB information/welcome package. Airmen should make every effort to reserve temporary lodging prior to arrival to ensure accommodations are available for their family while completing in-processing which can take several days. It is important that lodging is arranged through the Kadena Lodging office, otherwise, there is a risk of not being reimbursed for lodging expenses. Airmen without a sponsor should gaining unit Commander Support Staff (CSS) or the Military Personnel Flight’s Customer Service office at DSN 634-4537 for CSS contact information.

Upon arrival to Kadena Air Force Base, Airmen must first report to your unit’s Commander Support Staff (CSS), INTRO Manager or Admin staff representative with a copy of your orders upon arrival or the next duty day after weekend arrival to begin in-processing. The unit will provide the Initial Duty Assignment (IDA) notification and squadron checklist.

After unit in-processing, newcomers must attend the Newcomer’s Orientation Seminar offered every Thursday at the Schilling Community Center. For more information about specific in-processing procedures, contact your gaining unit Commander Support Staff or the MPF at DSN 634-4537.

Required Forms of ID

Proper identification is required for all transactions. TWO forms of unexpired identification are required for adults, one of which must be a current photo ID. Notarized English translation must accompany foreign documents. We are unable to take the following identifications: SOFA License/Line Badge/Base Pass.

Passports

Passport applications are by appointment ONLY

One appointment per person. For families of 3 or more, please send us an email to schedule a family appointment.

Passport Checklists

If applying for a child passport, both parents and the child must be present during processing. If either parent cannot be present, the appearing parent must provide a photocopy of the non-applying parent’s ID and an original notarized form DS-3053(Statement of Consent form) or DS-5525 (Statement of Exigent/Special Family Circumstances).

Passport Photo Requirements

  • Submit a high-resolution photo that is not blurry, grainy, or pixelated
  • 2 x 2 in (51 x 51 mm)
  • Printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper
  • White background
  • No glasses
  • Military Uniform is not permitted
  • Must be taken within the last six months
