SWIM LESSONS
PARENT & CHILD • Ages 6 mos - 2 yrs
$55 • Per series
Children are introduced into the water in a comfortable environment and parents are taught the basics of water safety to gain a better understanding and confidence in the water.
Parents must be in the water with their child at all times.
PRESCHOOL LEVELS 1 – 3 • Ages 3 – 5
$85 • Per series
Children are introduced to important safety practices and basic aquatic skills while developing confidence in the water.
Preschool Level 1

LEARN TO SWIM SERIES 1 – 6 • Ages 5 - 16

Children are introduced to important safety practices and basic aquatic skills while developing confidence in the water.
1. Introduction to Water Skills
This class is designed to help the student develop positive attitudes, good swimming habits, and safe practices in and around the water.
Skills covered:
- Comfortability underwater
- Floating on back (without assistance)
- Front/Back glide
- Basics of Flutter & Frog Kicks on front and back
- Building blocks for Front Crawl, Breaststroke, Backstroke, & Elementary Backstroke
2. Fundamental Aquatics Skills
This class is designed to give students success with fundamental skills, including learning how to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. Level 1 must be passed to register for this class.
Skills covered:
- Basics of Front Crawl, Breaststroke, Backstroke, & Elementary Backstroke
- Survival floating
- Basics of treading with Scissor & Frog Kicks
- Basics of kicking on front and back
- Underwater mobility
3. Stroke Development
This class is designed to help students build on the skills learned in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice in deeper water. Level 2 must be passed to register for this class.
Skills covered:
- Dolphin Kicks
- Scissor Kicks
- Swimming stamina
- Survival swimming
- Comfortability in the Deep End
- Front Crawl side breathing
- Form Correction on strokes
4. Stroke Improvement
This class is designed to develop students’ confidence in the strokes learned in Level 3 and to improve other aquatic skills. Level 3 must be passed to register for this class.
Skills covered:
- Butterfly
- Sidestroke
- Diving into the Deep End
- Swimming stamina
- Form correction on strokes
- Underwater swim
5. Stroke Refinement
This class is designed for students to further learn how to coordinate and refine strokes. Level 4 must be passed to register for this class.
Skills covered:
- Flip Turn for front crawl
- Flip Turn for backstroke
- Open Turns for all strokes
- Using dive blocks
- 100-meter swim
6. Swimming & Skill Proficiency
This class is designed for students to refine strokes, allowing them to swim with more ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances.
Skills covered:
- Swimming stamina
- Exercise drills
- Learning to use resting strokes
- 500 meter swim
PRIVATE LESSONS • Ages 6 & over

Course curriculum curated to the needs of each individual! Small class sizes allow for ample instruction, practice, and development.

Swim Evaluations
If you are unsure about your child’s swimming ability, check out our FREE swim lesson evaluations! This will measure what swim lesson level your child should participate in.
Kadena Aquatics swim lesson program follows the American Red Cross progressive swimming level model.
Non-Summer Sessions

Each series consists of eight 30-minute sessions. Open to all SOFA and dependents.

TRAINING REQUESTS
Please ensure that all training request forms inlcude the following information: date, time, number of participants, number of lanes, lane layouts, and a point of contact (name, email, and any special requests).
Please submit all reservation requests to aquatics@kadenafss.com 48 hours prior to the date requested.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
American Red Cross Certification
After the completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course, you’ll join an exclusive list of the best professional lifeguards.
Prerequisite Test
Must be successfully completed before the in-person course starts. The Prerequisite Test includes:
- Swim, Tread, Swim Sequence – Participants must swim 150 meters, immediately transition to a 2 minute no-hands tread, followed by another 50 meter swim.
- Brick Test, in under 1 minute and 40 seconds, applicants must swim 20 meters, retrieve a 10 pound brick at the bottom of the pool, and return it to the start.

To complete the course, all parts of both the online portion and in class session must be fully completed.
Pool Parties
Private Pool Parties available at both Kadena Aquatics Facilities, Fairchild & Hagerstrom Pools!
Fairchild Pool
- Pool Parties are available outside operational hours – weekends after 1:30 pm.
- Pool Parties are available for 2 or 3-hour increments.
Hagerstrom Pool

Pool Parties are available outside normal operation hours in the summer – 7 – 9 pm after closing.
The General Rules of the pool still apply! No glass, no alcohol or cooking, no flotation devices outside of Coastguard types I, II, or III allowed. For special requests, please discuss with the Aquatics Staff/Manager!
Cancellation Policies
- Customers are required to notify the Aquatics Manager of a cancellation 1 week before a scheduled party to receive a full refund.
- Cancellations given within a week of the scheduled party will receive a 50% refund.
- Cancellation after the start of the party will not receive any refund.
- If the pool is closed by management in the case of either thunderstorms or poor chemical levels, the customer is entitled to a full refund.
Swim Test
Children ages 10 and younger must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times. Children ages 11 – 13 may be left unattended only if they pass the swim test, otherwise must be supervised by an adult who is at least 18 years old. Children must have dependent ID on their person at all times. In order to pass the swim test the child must successfully complete the following:
- Swim at least 25 meters
- Tread water for 1 minute
- Pull themselves up from the water without using a ladder
