The 18th Force Support Squadron is rolling out a packed summer lineup designed to keep youth and teens active, creative and connected across Kadena Air Base.
From camps and classes to field trips and family events, this years’ schedule offers something for kids of all ages โ and plenty of ways to make the most of summer.
The season kicks off with an end-of-school celebration at Hagerstrom Pool, where Youth Center recreation room members can dive into summer with a poolside party.
Not a member? Families are encouraged to enroll through CYPBMS to unlock access to daily recreation room use, discounted field trips and specialty clubs like:

Membership also includes monthly events featuring free food, games and prizes.
The Youth Centerโs instructional classes are also open for enrollment, offering weekly sessions in everything from gymnastics, dance and karate to music and cultural arts.
Students can try instruments and activities such as:
- Piano
- Violin
- Guitar
- Traditional Okinawa Sanshin
- Pottery
- Language Courses
- and other hands-on activities
Teens can look forward to a summer packed with themed field trip weeks. Culture-focused outings include visits to Okinawa World and local craft experiences, while food-themed adventures highlight pizza-making and culinary tours.
For those seeking excitement, adventure trips feature river trekking and beach excursions to scenic spots like Amamichu Tomb and Muruku Beach. Additional opportunities throughout the summer include camps centered on culinary arts, performing arts, game design and survival skills.
Between outings, the Teen Center recreation room remains open daily, providing a consistent space for students to relax, connect and unwind.
Special events add even more energy to the season, including a membership celebration and a glow-themed summer party filled with group games and nighttime fun.
Sports programs are another major highlight, with summer camps in:
- Volleyball
- Soccer
- Basketball
- Seasonal Leagues later in the season
Families are encouraged to register early as spaces fill quickly.
Installation-wide activities round out the calendar. Emery Lanes will offer free bowling for kids all summer, while Schilling Community Center hosts themed family events, including a Mario Bros.โinspired bingo night.
Movie lovers can also enjoy an outdoor Reel Night at Schilling Garden, featuring a family-friendly film under the stars โ just bring a blanket or lawn chair.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of options, with continued access to Hagerstrom Pool, the Kadena Marina and Outdoor Recreation programs offering adventures across Okinawa.
With a full slate of events, classes and excursions, squadron leaders say the mission is clear: create a safe, engaging and unforgettable summer for military-connected youth.
