Event Overview

The Airmen of Kadena (AOK) will sponsor five junior enlisted Airmen (E-1 through E-4) to earn their Open Water Scuba Certification through Kadena Marina.

This is a fully supported opportunity to gain a valuable skill, build confidence in the water, and experience scuba diving in Okinawa.

What’s Included

1. Full Open Water Scuba Certification course
2. Equipment rental for the duration of training
3. Study materials
4. Certification upon successful course completion

Class Schedule

1. Monday–Thursday: 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. (may extend, not past 10 p.m. if needed)
2. Saturday & Sunday: 7:30 a.m. – noon
3. No class: Friday, June 5

Eligibility Requirements

Participants must:

1. Be junior enlisted (E-1 through E-4)
2. Be available for all scheduled class dates and times
3. Be able to swim at least 100 yards with fins and mask
4. Be able to float/tread water for 15 minutes
5. Complete certification requirements by June 30, 2026

Administrative Requirements

Selected participants must:

1. Complete registration in person at Kadena Marina by May 15
2. Submit a High Risk Activity Form (HRA/HRS) prior to registration
3. Complete a Medical Clearance Form (if required) by May 28

Important Notes

1. If a selected participant cannot complete course requirements, their slot will be offered to the next eligible applicant
2. Full participation is required for all scheduled sessions
