Our warm, wet hug from the beautiful island air is back! And while I enjoy the humid heat, we know itโs not everyoneโs favorite thing. Not to worry โ the 18th Force Support Squadron has some great ways to keep you and your family cool, so the fun doesnโt have to be turned down as the heat turns up.
The Schilling Community Center is a great place to hang out. Take a Japanese conversation class, learn to play the guitar, or experience the excitement of family bingo night โ and so much more. Not to mention, you can grab a bite at the newly renovated Dough Pizza, shop or take a class at Arts & Crafts or stop by the Aero Club to begin your first flight lesson, all in one amazing place.
Escape to Emery Lanes โ that crisp, air-conditioned comfort, with a Frostbite in hand, is sure to cool you down fast. With its Kids Bowl Free promotion, private party room rentals and new Echo Lounge karaoke room, thereโs a little something for everyone.

The Rocker Club brings the ultimate variety of indoor fun. From awesome daily programs to its many unique spaces, you can dive into social hours, salsa nights, smartphone trivia, country line dancing, karaoke, live music and DJs. Add a game room, three dining options and classic favorites like pool tables and darts in Hanabiโs, and thereโs something exciting around every corner.
Dine in at any of our delicious FSS food facilities, serving up delectable eats โ from luxurious Sunday brunch at the Rocker Club to pizza from Dough, Chippers or Surfside Grill at Okuma Beach. Enjoy smash burgers and wings at Outpost Bar & Grill, or, for my fellow sweet tooth friends, grab a refreshing slice of Seasideโs โChimiโ cheesecake with the ocean breeze at the Kadena Marina.
Weโre stretching โindoorsโ just a bit here โ but when it comes to beating the heat, these are a must. Take a dip or two! Kadena Air Base has not one, but two amazing pools to keep you cool. Hagerstrom Pool is the best for families, with an amazing slide and plenty of poolside space to bring a picnic and spend the day. At the end of the month, it will host its Dolphin Dash event, where the pool is transformed into an incredible obstacle course.
Fairchild Pool is open for lap swimming, making it a great alternative to get your workout in without noticing all the sweat. Need more poolside time? Visit ITT to pick up your tickets to Moon Beach Hotel for a pool and lunch pass or a Manza Ocean Park pass.
No matter how high the temperatures climb, thereโs no shortage of ways to stay cool and keep the fun going. From relaxing escapes to high-energy activities, the 18th Force Support Squadron has everything you need to make the most of your time indoors. So grab your friends and family, beat the heat and discover just how exciting the great indoors can be.
